Aristocratic

Aristocratic people are Visual, very visual. To the point of them feeling like they will forget their belongings if they have them "put away". A lot of times they feel like they are just "messy" people and other people may think the same thing. After learning from different books and podcasts and putting my own research into action- there is not a person who can't live an organized life. The key is to learning what will contain the "mess" and how to work with the person to help them apply the systems that will work for them. Aristocratic people don't want any thing hidden behind a door, or shoved into a basket.

In their bedroom they should not be using their closets with the doors on, or even using the rod with hangers. Dressers are also a waste for aristocrats. They need to really utilize hooks and wall space. A few examples are the pictures to the right, here you can see all of the shirts and sweaters, but they are put away because they can be seen. In a drawer they would choose to place it on top of the dresser, instead of putting it away- not because they don't care to be tidy, they just don't know how to make it work for them. They can still have very organized systems and have things just so, it just needs to have

it extremely visible to them. This bag system is a perfect option for an Aristocrat because you see each item. The hanging system above is another great option to hang their clothes because you can see each item of clothes. You can always get very detailed if you want, but you don't have to.

Kitchens are another sore spot for aristocrats. Their countertops tend to become their holding space for EVERYTHING. Why? Because they don't want to forget what they have and what they like. What is the solution? Open shelving! When they can see their items they will put them away in an eye pleasing way. The other thing they really need to do is purge, and take the items that don't mean much to them out of the house. Hanging pots, clear containers for the pantry, and even a see through fridge will make an aristocratic person so happy. They love to display their items and when it is brought to their attention that the "normal" way to live, behind doors and cabinets, doesn't have to be the way, it opens their minds and gets the clutter out of their homes.

These kitchen options are still very eye pleasing to any person. However, some of the other styles would not use this, they would start to hide thing behind doors, shove all the kitchen gadgets into one cabinet, or in the oven. So yes this is a solution to any mess, but not the only solution. keep YOUR style in mind. Your brain operates its own way, and when you can figure out what that way is you will live happier, save time by not trying to use a different way, and save money because you won't be trying to buy other systems that won't work for you.
The entry zone is another place that things can go very wrong for an Aristocratic style. You will utilize every doorknob, countertop, chair, bench, etc.. but your coat closet will be empty, or filled with things that you don't really want, maybe even meant to take to the donation drop off, but you forgot it was there because it was behind the door. Get hooks, and open shelving. Again, remove the door, use that creative side that you love to let out. create a space that you will love to look at. Think of it as a "tidy" way to display your items. You will love the look of it that you will continue to add your coat everyday.

Jewelry is another hot topic button. Get creative, this decorative egg holder is perfect for rings, and small earrings.

Even storage needs to be to your style. wall space is your best friend. so are floor to ceiling shelves. Here, on the left, is an option for snow equipment. Still there it a space for everything, and everything in its space. The garage might be one of the only spaces that start in an Aristocratic state. It doesn't take much to hang things on the wall and have everything within sight and reach. To organize the garage in another system you have to have the right frame of mind, time, money and space to make it as pleasing to your style.

Keep in mind that if you live with other people there will need to be some compromising. Great news is you are the "easiest" system to use. Anyone who wants to be organized will bend to your system. Kids love this type of organizing because they haven't fully developed their style yet and these systems are in your face, and ready for their belongings. Also you won't have much out of place once you go through all of your items and group things in areas together and make sense of where you use them most and you store them there. You can and will be tidy and organized if you follow this style if you took the Organize Quiz and got mostly A's.

11/15 Home office/Craft areas!

Go through all paperwork and decide what is trash, and what needs to be filed, and what needs to be dealt with right away! Create space for your new piles. We have a few different systems in our office- I have a "need to get to" tray with 3 slots one for each business and then a home one. The for Billy's Business we have wall organizers and each month is a different folder! This makes it so easy to file the papers quickly and they stay organized until tax time! And the third is we turned 2 drawers into small filing cabinets and one hold all of Billys past tax papers, and the other one is for all of our household papers. One drawer is in our office, the other is in our TV stand in our living room! Sometimes you have to get creative!! Wall organizers Filing drawer in our T.V. stand If you have an actual office do you need it to be more than just an office? Ours serves many purposes- It's a craft room, game room and an office. 10/15 Drop Zone!

So today's challenge is working on your Drop Zone! I love drop zones, the space can also be called a command center, mud room, or if you want to be fancy the owners suit. Usually is in a place that everyone can see and uses! I call it the drop zone because everyone in my family, including me, comes in and drops everything we are bringing into the house in this spot.If you don't have a spot for all of this yet, then you might be using your kitchen table, or kitchen island as your drop zone, which might be driving you crazy when its time to eat dinner!  Our drop zone is right when we come in from the garage. It's not a large space, but it is in the perfect spot of the house, and I added things that we needed to allow it to have a home for all of the things I wanted to keep in this area! First thing you need to do after you have cleaned everything out and decided what you are keeping, you need to make a home for everything you want in this room. Then you will n

"Special Mail" Organization

What do you do with your holiday cards, or any other "special mail" that you want to keep?  FIRST, I am here giving you permission if you don't have a lot of room, and have too many special cards every year, please let them go, recycle them and make room for the ones to come in 2021. I usually take that route- I love getting the cards and having them hang in my hallway, for the holiday season, then take them down, add any new addresses or birthdays to my contacts in my phone and recycle them.  ALSO it is OK to keep them as long as it is with intention and they are kept in an organized way. Piled all over the house, or shoved into a box that is shoved in a closet is not what I am talking about. This year I decided to try something different, I am going to make it a goal to keep all of the special mail (my kids get cards from all of the grandparents for all of the holidays plus all of the holiday cards, baby or  graduation  announcements, and wedding invitations ) in thi
